This Basso is probably the most tasteful conversion in town:

Great photos Kurt, love the "ground upwards" shots, an unusual and very interesting perspective. Lovely bikes - have seen pictures of yours before (cool) but the Hetchins & Rossin also look superb and agree that the Basso is tastefully converted (though I'd have to have brakes on it!)

The Hetchins is owned by one of the local VLW enthusiasts - he'll be glad to hear the comments. It's awaiting a Brooks Swift TI, incidentally.

P.S.: Forgot to mention: The "Rossin" came to me that way. It isn't a Rossin, and I have no idea what it is (Schroder has been one of the guesses). English threading throughout.

In which case it's a superb "Tribute" ! :)

Sorry - but it reminded me of the fact that an exhibitionist popped up at the event to do just that. Not sure if the PSA's arrested the woman or not. Ironic.

Wow - the Hetchins, Id still like your Paramount more if it had either plain aluminum colored fenders or polished and not the white.. or no fenders at all.

I'll photo it fenderless someday, once the tires have been swapped. It'll probably look quite interesting - I've "known" it as a fendered bike ever since I rebuilt it.

Two questions.

What's BMD?

Is Miami fresh out of water bottles for cycling? :D

Kurt- You are so close with your Paramount. Try some chrome Berthouds, it might be worth a little extra effort. Thank you for the pics! :)

Didn't involve a bike. Pedestrian.

Of course, according to the Advocacy & Safety forum, pedestrians are generally worse then motorists, so it all adds up.

Family choice for inexpensive waterbottles that suffice for this event.

Very functional and practical - not so photogenic though.

Those are all very nice bicycles. I like the paintjob on the silver/white one especially.

I disagree. The white fenders are just right. Anything else would look heavy.

+1 'White is right' in this particular instance!

I went with the Bluemels Populars on the Paramount for three reasons:

#1: The '61 catalog lists white plastic fenders as an option
#2: They match the bar tape
#3: The thing is in such sorry condition, it'd look positively disgusting without the white fenders as a visual distraction.

Now if I can get a pair of polished aluminum fenders to clear a pair of CLB brakes, you might see them on a black Paramount - if I can get my hands on one. Anyone wish to trade a Campag Record crankset for a Stronglight 93? ;)
