I wanted to pass on this information from an email I received yesterday. There have been several folks in my area talking about putting together a century ride. They have a route put together that equals 110 miles around the outskirts of lower Kittitas valley. I won't be able to ride because of a scheduled surgery the next morning. PM me if you're interested and I can get you in touch with one of the two folks organizing it. If there's enough interest they may push to make it a more formal event.

*****************************
Manastash metric too short for you? Ready for a fun challenge? Then join us on Sunday 10/18 for the 1st annual Lower Kittitas Valley Circumnavigation Ride* (LKVCR).

This is a 110 mile ride that circumnavigates lower Kittitas Valley without any backtracking. We'll head to the SE corner of Badger Pocket, then the NE corner of Parke Creek and Christiansen, then the NW corner of Smithson and 97, and finally the SW corner of Thorp Cemetary Rd at Taneum. A Gmaps Pedometer map of the route is here:

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3144753

This is going to be an all-day affair -- we're not going to be going fast. The average speed will probably be in the 14.5-15 mph range for the whole ride. People can go up hills at their own pace, and everyone will wait at the top of hills for riders to catch up and to catch their breath.

I'll ask everyone to chip in $5-$10 for energy drinks, snacks, etc. and we'll have rest stops every 30 miles or so.

The idea is to have fun and enjoy the fall weather with good companions. If you just want to do part of the ride you're still quite welcome. If you decide to drop out early, we're still proud of you for trying.

scozim - I've been trying to figure out your course for awhile now. I guess gmap-pedo site has stumped me, I'm just not smart enough to get it to create a route list (you know, ride .2 miles, turn right). Also, everytime I tried the elevation feature my computer locked up.

Is there any chance you could map the ride on "Ride with GPS" (ridewithgps.com)? On that site, 1 click and you have the route sheet. Also, their elevation feature is pretty slick. Hover your mouse over the elevation profile and it highlights a point on the elevation graph and also on your route. Nice way to see where the hills are.

Anyway, just a thought and good luck on the ride!
