I don't know that I am posting this in the correct message board, but I have somewhat narrowed down my bike search to three candidates. I ride weekends, sprints, paved trails and 10 mile commutes. My only requirements is that the bike be disc brake equipped or disc brake capable with the best other components for the money.

Salsa La Cruz: http://www.salsacycles.com/laCruz08.html $1200.00 - $1800.00
I might change the wheels and would plan to upgrade to ultegras front and rear.

Motobecane Fantom Cross Team Ti: $1799.00 http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...cross_ti_x.htm
Allot of bang for the buck, but I would need new wheels and the disc brakes if that is the direction i want to go. $$$$ The one issue is that I have not been able to find a front 130 mm hub for a road based wheel-set. ????

Kona Honk Inc: http://www.konaworld.com/bike.cfm?content=honkyinc $1400.00 - $1800.00
This is a cool bike, but I have not been able to find any info about this specific model.

I love my La Cruz. I swapped 105 shifters, derailleurs, and cranks for Rival. Couldn't be happier.

What wheels would you put on the La Cruz?

Google "Cotic Roadrat". You'd have to order a frame and fork package for a shop to build up for you, but that has its advantages - for instance, you could have discs *and* an Alfine IGH with a JTEK changer. People who have the Rat seem to really like it.

It is likely that the front hub on the Motobecane is 100mm, like most front hubs (there are very few exceptions to the 100mm front hub spacing...things like the Surly Pugsley)
