I got a couple of shots of what looks like a prototype MEC bike at the weekend - caught it parked at Arbutus & 4th.

This is the second I've seen, the first was a women's design in a similar style. The details of the rear dropout are interesting - while this bike had V-brakes and a rear derailleur, this bike is pretty clearly set up to take an IGH and disk brakes (like a Swobo, only different.) Based on a label stuck on the bike, this is called a "Midtown".

Cool. Interesting dropout.

What type of components were on that bike?

Unfortunately, I didn't take a note of that. Actually I didn't even notice the dropout until I was looking at the pics later.

Looks like a non-disc version of the frame pictured on their homepage (http://www.mec.ca/Main/home.jsp). The dropout design looks the same anyway.

That frame could take Internal Hub Goodness.

'tis true! Mec.ca has a banner with a bike just like the OP posted. It's called Shadowland. Hmm.... I wonder who makes it.

What size wheels was it running? 26 or 700?

Placing a bet on 700's.
Hybrid commuter by the looks of it.
