Congratulations Ron - you seem to becoming quite the climber, almost 20% faster than your 30mninute target. I understand that the winning time was pretty stupendous....

edit: PS - how were the locals about this? It looks like a crazy number of people riding today.

I didn't really notice many locals out while we were riding. There was one who must have gotten to Windy Hill before the LKHC started, and when they had to leave, we all had to make room ... it was like a parting of the sea. All in all, it went without a hitch. When I was climbing, I would come up from behind another rider, and couldn't tell if it was another LKHC rider or not. Didn't see a ribbon on their handlebar, so I assume they were not. At least I didn't get passed by anyone.

When I finally got onto the course, I was in my big chainring. After realizing this, I figured I'd just ride in the big chainring, and see how long I could stand with that big gear. I think I lasted about 1 mile, before I had to shift down to my middle chainring, then finally go to my granny near the top. And the result??? surprisingly, I got my personal best ... 25:08. I totally was not expecting this at all. I would have been happy with just 30 minutes, but this is just amazing. I'm a happy guy. :)

Looks like the results are up - Ron, you did better than you thought!?

Nice work all. I also got a PR since I'd never been up there before - 23:58. I've got something to shoot for now anyway :)

It was really good to meet some BF folk I hadn't met IRL before -- donald, chris, rich & mary ellen. I didn't realize ericm was at the start or I woulda said hi. Riding back up Whiskey Hill - Sand Hill with Donald, Ramon and Ron was fast and fun. Probably the low point for me was the extra punishment up Summit Springs which was just ridiculously steep.

I ended up with a metric century for the day (63.5 mi) because I rode from/to home in Campbell...that's the longest ride I've done all year! Mostly we've been riding 30-40 mi tandem loops on weekends so it was nice to get the extra saddle time.

Over a full minute is impressive; nicely done.

A personal best for me, 21:25. Only the second time up OLH, first time was at the end of a 80 mile ride, so didn't really remember much. Still coughing from the cool morning air.

Hey I didn't realize there were other BFers there (parity, ericm). I got 19:17 which is over 2 1/2 minutes faster than my previous best. Seems like a lot of Prs all around.

I"m really impressed with the organization at this "low key" event given the tough logistics of timing 150+ riders. Thanks to all the volunteers :thumb:
