Does anyone know when this bill officially goes into effect? The buildling manager where I work adamantly refuses to allow any bikes in until he is forced to. Some people!

a quick solution...get a folding bike with a bag.

The law goes into effect 120 days after it passed, so roughly October 30th.

As far as I can tell, an actual tenant needs to put in the request, I don't think you can do it yourself if you are just an employee.

I would contact Transportation Alternatives, they will have some good info on the process as it develops.

New York Magazine included a section on bicycle access in their current issue.

My understanding is The Bike access law allows tenants to make a complaint(2. Armed with neatly organized data, meet with your boss or human resources). If you are not a tenant you need to contact the person who is the tenant, sub-tenant, whatever. If it is close to lease renewal time it would probably be better to include details of what you want in the lease as you will get more cooperation from the building owner on the issue.
