Find a shop that sells them, take your bike in, and see. That'd be the simplest way.

I've done that with success. Just don't bind the cable, meaning no sharp bends. Test your brakes before riding, then test the gears before getting too far away from home. Don't get a cheap basket that is intended for a beach cruiser. Find one that has a separate clamp that sets the basket a bit forward of the handlebars.

You can put anything on anything if you're willing to work it out. At worst, I'd think you might have to reroute the shifter cables (the "gear wires"), perhaps replacing them with slightly longer ones to go around the basket. That's a pretty simple job (I do it on my bikes every other year or so as a part of maintenance anyway). Cables and housing are available at every bike shop.
As an alternative, you could mount a rear rack, then attach (with zip ties?) a basket to that. That's what I did with my old mountain bike when I turned it into a commuter.

Wald is a "cheap basket for a beach cruiser"? I'd personally love to have a 157 on the front of my beach cruiser, and a 535 in the back.
