Hi everyone.
I have been browsing this forum for a while and I've now got a question about a road bike purchase. Up until this point I've been stricly a mountain biker but I've wanted to get a road bike for quite some time.
Of course I was all pumped after watch the Tour de France so today I bid on this bike (Yes, I realize that this was probably the worst day to try to buy a bike for a good price, but this seemed like a potential good deal):
Fuji Professional (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=7298&item=3689493126&rd=1)

I didn't bid high enough to meet the reserve price, but the seller e-mailed me afterwards and offered to sell it to me for around $450 + shipping. I'm thinking this is a good offer, but I cannot figure out what year the bike is. I know it is <= a 1999, but I cannot find any pictures before 2000 models. I just want to make sure I'm not buying a 1984 bike or something (I'm a complete newbie in the road biking arena). The components listed seemed nice, so I thought it was a no brainer but I figured i would query the experts here to see if they had any input.

Thanks a lot for your help,
RW

Well, I ended up buying it. From what I could find it seems that it is a 1999. The decals are similar to the type of Fuji logo that is on the newer 200x bikes but the cabling is running along the top of the top bar instead on the bottom and the frame looks slightly different. The 1998's have slightly different model decals but the same type of frame.

Hopefully it will be a nice starter bike for me, as I don't have a ton of money to throw at a new road bike. Anyway, thanks for reading.

I'd be a little concerned about Campy STI working with a Shimano drivetrain. I'm not sure if they are compatible.

Looks like a heck of a nice bike to me!
