originally thought it was a gitane competition... turns out it is a jeunet comte?

Not worth the price in my opinion. Mentions "531", implying Reynolds 531 tubeset, but based on the steel, cottered crankset and chromed stays, it's a Jeunet model 620 with a hi-tensile frame. Plus, if the pedl is crooked, you may be looking at trying to find a French threaded crankarm and/or pedal. Finally, the fork may be a replacement and that may indicate a crash. Fully chromed forks were atypical during this era, though I recall a member reporting a Jeunet model 620 coming with a fully chromed fork. So, unless there is objective evidence of it being Reynolds 531 butted tubing, I'd pass and even then, I'd be inspecting it very closely.

thanks for the info... pretty ridiculous of me... I read gitane franch compte and thought the seller had fat-fingered competition.
