Road Cycling - Wheels

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi guys. First timer here...
I've got a Giant OCR3 with all stock components. I'm not hardcore, and always try to avoid looking like a poser when I can, so otherwise the bike would be fine -- except that I need to replace the front wheel. Is there a great benefit to upgrading to better wheels? And if so, are there any recommendations for someone who isn't looking to go all out? Thanks.
Good wheels are $ well spent, IMO. What wheels do you have now? Appreciate the poser/tech-weenie honesty. What is your budget, knowing that good used wheels can be 500 frogskins?

I just bought a pair of Velomax Tempest wheels used for $150. Best money I've ever spent on a bike. I also just needed a front, but bought the pair and after riding the front found that I had to get the rear ready. Still waiting on UPS.
Check ebay, and look at the specials that are advertised here and other bike sites. You might find some bargain wheel that is much better than what you have.

Bang for the buck wise, I'd recommend a set of Ultegra/Open Pros from Colorado Cyclist.
I'm curious to hear that both of you guys ruined your front wheels. Usually it's the rear that goes. Is there a story here that you aren't shareing with us?
