The French are protective of their language and culture, probably more so now than ever with the proliferation of television and movies in the English language. It wouldn't surprise me to find few French media outlets offering an English version.
If someone finds a French media website with an English version I'd like to read it too.

Just google Le Monde and hit the translate button--imperfect, but you'll get the gist.
That was the first thing I did this morning and the articles were in fact pretty reasonable. The German press too has been kind (though little comment has been made about the spitting fans)

Here's a brief "media summary" offered by Der Spiegle (via Google translation...):
ITALY
La Gazzetta dello sport: "Armstrong enters history. He was the ruler in each moment."
La Stampa: "Armstrong - the Tyrann France."
La Repubblica: "Lance overtrumps the legends of the cycle racing."
FRANCE
L'Equipe: "Armstrong governed the route like a Despot: The absolute triumph. Six victories - perhaps also more."
Liberation: "between admiration and doubts. Armstrong won its sixth route de France one behind the other: A unique conception."
The NETHERLANDS
De Telegraaf: "Armstrong writes route history. The man, who should again have become after 2003 its largest rival, January Ullrich, has himself already in April the offside maneuvered. Armstrong is contrary to its most important rival past years the expressed Trainingsfanatiker."
Algemeen Dagblad: "Lance Armstrong - texanischer ice-breaker on the wheel."
De Volkskrant: "no Kannibale, but six titles - which running will drive Armstrong in the year 2005? A route of the exposures, but not the truth. Distrust have grown in the field by (alleged) Doping and controversy counter measures. Behind the window blinds of the cycle racing a fight takes place. January Ullrich appeared badly prepared."
Trouw: "skepticism with the triumphant advance of Armstrong - the 32-jaehrige man from Austin advanced the Professionalismus to the extreme. It makes a variant of the formula 1 from the cycle racing. Ullrich paid the price for a bad preparation. Who increases ten kilograms in the winter, because he takes too many Hamburg ones and too much beer to itself, Armstrong can never strike."
BELGIUM
Het Laatste Nieuws: "traditionally a German stands as the second on the podium. Only, he is called not January Ullrich, but Andreas Kloeden. Who forecast before the route, one laughed at."
SPAIN
Marca: "Armstrong may have many errors, particularly for us Europeans, who do not understand its American mentality. But it has a large virtue: It lives for the cycle racing - or better said, for the route -, and its rivals, above all January Ullrich should copy this to it."
El País: "Armstrongs record does not have a comparison in modern sport history. Not even the Michael Schumacher almost unbesiegbare in the formula 1 can measure to it. Armstrong arrived not on the moon, but on Mars."
ENGLAND
The Times: "Armstrong drives with route de Force into history. Its being waiting play showed once more, like well the Texaner the steel will of a Topkillers developed."
DAILY telegraph: "Armstrong wins hearts with historical triumph. The yellow indication of the courage. Lance Armstrong may inspire and push off, but it does not prevail a doubt about its courage."
DAILY express: "even the purists should recognize Armstrong after the record victory. Time to celebrate all all this."
