Hi There,

Thought I would introduce myself. I'm not strictly speaking a clydesdale. I'm a slim framed guy whose weight has crept up from 147lbs to my current weight of 194lbs, whilst developing a taste for coca cola and chocolate.:(

I've gotten pretty inactive and unfit, so I bought myself a bike on the cycle to work scheme and I've decided to try my hand at racing next year.

My goal between now and then is to try and shed all this weight I've accumulated and get back into some sort of shape.

Some of the pictures and stories in this forum are inspiring I take my hat off to some of the people who have lost hundreds of lbs.

Any advice anyone could offer would be gratefully received.:)

And they say Chocolate is good for us?
(I guess it all falls into the qty issue again) I am in the same weight boat, for the same reason.

Good luck in getting weight back down and meeting your race goal.

Welcome Thomas, although strictly speaking you should have to hit the chocolate and soda for a few more weeks before you qualify to post here :)
I reached Clydesdale-emeritus status by lots of riding and cutting back on junk food. In your case that would be the soda (my wife would wash my mouth out with soap if I dared refer to chocolate as junk). Riding to work is great. If you want slightly less serious challenges than road racing, try time trials or local group rides, metric centuries, centuries, etc.
Good luck!

Welcom Thomas,

Beware, cycling is addictive. Fortunately for us, it is a very positive addiction.

Just start riding and ride as often as you can. I don't get out as often as I like, but when I do I enjoy riding all day long. It has been the best, and easiest way I've ever worked out.
