Professional Cycling For the Fans - Was it my imagination or...

Did Eki do a "Farmers Blow" at, and then flip off Filippo Simeoni when they realed him in on the break into France yesterday? It looked like it to me... And if he did, that was the funniest thing I've ever seen. :D

I just saw some sort of hand signal. I think Phil or Paul even commented on it, but they couldn't tell what it was. It kinda looked like the American sign language gesture for "I love you," but it seems weird that Eki would use that sign -- unless it's a universal sign.

The Russian wouldn't use american sign lanuage. I think the universal farmer's blow is more likely. I didn't see it clearly, but if he did, that is indeed one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

If Simeoni was indeed telling the truth, I applaud him for his guts and honesty but there's a fine line between telling the truth and having one's professional career flushed down the crapper!

My legs felt like wood in the neutral and I was thinking how nice it was that I didn't have to be worried about an attack from the start. Then I looked up the road and saw Filippo Simieoni flying up the road. Next thing we know the pack is broken into a few pieces and some of us are really suffering and pissed off.

Lance unleashed the dogs on him and he was soon brought back in and put back and his cage. What an ass. "Grande juevos," Igor said after this happened, but still an ass. It's one thing if he and Lance want to have a little war and they hate each other. But when it starts affecting everyone else it kinda sucks.

yeah...can see van velde's point......you wouldn't want anyone trying to attack in a cycling race...now would you?........hmmmm does memeory serve me correct?...wasn't Van velde a 'Lance employee' around the time of the good doctors 'EPO is no more harmful than orange juice', claim?.....hmmmm no vested interest in slagging Simeoni there then?

Could be. But what I got from what Vande Velde was saying was that he considered his Tour over and that he was tired and ready to get it over with. He wasn't trying to work during yesterday's stage 20. He was looking to take it easy. But unfortunately for him (Vande Velde), some of the others' Tour wasn't over yet. I don't think he was concerned about helping to chase down Simieoni for Armstrong. He was just trying not to get dropped - he talks about how he almost got dropped on the Champs.

I take your point, (or van velde's), but if he only wanted to 'race' for 19 stages, perhaps he shoulda entered a 19 stage race......nothing wrong with having a 'dig' when no-one else wants to....these are the times they can succeed, (unless of course you have upset Lance),

Block one nostril with your thumb from the same hand and exhale/blow out of the open nostril. Works best with loose snot rather than thick heavy snot. I about blow my eardrums out when I'm really clogged. I prefer to suck it back and then spit it out, but to each their own, :D .

For some reason, we always called this the South African Nose Blow where I grew up. I have no idea why.

Snot rocket, Norwegian Handkerchief, Farmer's Blow... They're all the same thing. For some, it's a way of life on the bike and it can be used for goodness or evil once mastered, e.g., carefully shot out of the slip stream and away from fellow riders OR used as a small caliber tactical weapon that is shot into your adversaries.

So whats the point of Eki doing this at Simeoni? I heard he also gave him the "hook'em horns" sign, to the effect of mess with the bull and you get the horns. I personally think its pretty fun. You can't get mad at riders for not liking each other and taking it out on each other. It happens in every sport, Baseball..the pitcher hits a batter and it happens back and forth. Football..you dont like someone, you pinch, bite, hit..anything. It happens, I dont like Lance is an ass. He just has a lot of power in the peleton

I do too. You know the Europeans just hate this stuff... but this is a sign of Americans starting to put their stamp on European cycling - we'll win and we'll talk trash. It's the American Way. :D

In that article I don't get it, who is the "ass"? Is it Lance for "sicking the dogs on him" or is it Simeoni for attacking knowing damn well that Lance wasn't going to let him get away?

Please, please dont't mix up Simoni (2xGiro winner of Saeco), and Simeoni (Domina Vacanze)!

This whole act is an evidence of Armstrong's caesaromania. At the general classfication Simeoni was and remained nowhere. Simply Lance can't allow a face he personally don't like in a breakaway group (not even at a stage victory, in that group were better sprinters like Mercado or Acosta). I can't understand why must a man should carry his personal dislikes and hurts to a field of fair-played sport.

I used to ride in peloton among former soviet riders. Unclogging their nose isn't any sign of special dislike or anything else then clogged nose, it's just the usual manner. And the easiest way. Here in Hungary we call it Balkan handkerchief.

An I'm sure that Ekimov has rode enough among Italian riders to perfectly know what horny hand means in Italy. Another annoying act beyond my understanding.
