i am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in but here it goes. is there anything i need to know about painting a carbon fork? specific paints, primers, and/or sealants that i need to use? i have had a lot of mixed advice so i thought i would turn to some frame builders who would most likely know. one of the local builders (land shark) offers a couple different carbon forks painted to match so i know i can be done, i am just not sure of what to use. i have not purchased the paint for the project yet (still deciding on the exact color and paint job) but i will be using a spray gun, not rattle cans. thanks in advance.

would the basic ppg auto paint work on a carbon fork? or is there a special primer i need to use first? i would like to purchase the paint soon so i can get the frame painted before it gets too cold.

Automotive paint will work fine.
What you can't do with carbon is have it powder coated, the heating part of the curing process is beyond the temperature tolerances of the resin.

Scuff the old finish and lay down a couple of coats of DP40 epoxy primer. Sand smooth followed by base/clear of your choice.
