It all started about a month ago. This overwieght outta shape 52 year old decided that enough was enough and that he had to get back into shape. Many moons ago he rode a 15 mile up and down loop everyday during lunch to stay in shape for motocross on his old Raliegh International. I started cruising bike shops and found what I thought was a good bike an Orbea Aspin and I bought it. After having a few fillings jarred loose on the cobby local roads I returned to the lbs where I purchased the bike to see what could be done. The owner from whom all the kids bikes had bought over the years said he wanted me to be happy and we started to consider alternatives. I looked at a 05 Lemond Versailles, Felt 65 (somewhere else) Trek 5K, various Giants, and a new 02 Litespeed Arenberg. I tried the alternatives and narrowed down to the Litespeed ( he netted the overall price down way below everything but the Felt). After a professional fitting including a stem swap (NC) and dicking around with shoes and inserts and a finally tweak in seat position I've been knocking out 20's for the last 4 days and am totally pleased with the end result.
I can't overstate the value of dealing with a good lbs that is focused on pleasing their customers.
50 this weekend or bust. :D
