Northeast - Real Boston Progress

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Check out this story in local paper. It does a great job with links to really useful trail maps and follows the pro racing Saturday and hugely popular Hub on Wheels Sunday ride.
If you haven't you really should do the Hub ride next year. You can do it any Sunday morning but it is a festival with guides, police at every intersectionadn plenty of fig newtons and bananas at rest stops.
Very very cool and a measure of real committment in improving bicycling. We are getting more lanes, signage adn awareness. I'm a big fan of Mayor Menino and Nichole Freedman's efforts.

Roomtone,
Hey! Too lazy to write without ** language?
1. I like your observation and holding a grudge relative to the Globe article. Spencer's first article was venting more than objective. Both you ventors have truths mixed in with the vent. Both represent popular views.
2. Are you nuts? This is good publicity, both the anti-bike article and the positive biking piece improve bike awareness. It is even fun to think the editor had the same author write both.
2. Are you for or against Boston's efforts to promote biking?

More awareness in MA is a great thing since so many motorists are really vicious reptiles when it comes to interacting with cyclists on the roads. I'm all for that. Do I think it will change the overall moniker of most motorists being Massholes? No.

Hunter comes to mind:
"For every moment of triumph, for every instance of beauty, many souls must be trampled".

To quote a wise man:
"Cycling's enemy is not the car; it is the idiot. And idiots travel by foot, car, and bicycle...everybody knows the enemy of the cyclist and the pedestrian is not the car; it's the Rollerblader:When it comes to sharing our roadways, the most important thing is to retain our humanity by respecting our fellow humans. And you are a human, whether you're using a vehicle or you're on foot. However, I believe that the Rollerblader is exempt from this, since the very act of Rollerblading is a denial of humanity."

Nicole Freedman is my hero.
For anybody who thinks it's not safe to bike in your town: dude, do something about it.
Go to every city council meeting and tell them what to do differently.
There are, guaranteed, already people in your community fighting to make things better, and they could use your help.
