Road Cycling - Schwinn Fastback Pro

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone out there have a Schwinn Fastback? They seem like a good deal and have some good reviews in the cycling mags. The Schwinn name makes me a little leary at this point. Anyone have one they can comment on??
Its a really nice bike... I used to build them and would buy one if I still worked for the Schwinn store.

I wouldn't worry about name. I am one of VERY few in Boise that ride K2 bikes. 2 mtn bikes and a road bike. By the way, I also ride a sweet pair of K2 telemark skis in the winter. It isnt about the name, it is all about the bike.

i have one in my shop, used for sale ($2000). i always liked it. it can definatly look misleading size wise with the sloping top tube though. i have never riden it but it sure looks good and real solidly built bike.
Thanks guys. I know someone that has a K2 bike and he really likes it. Would you say the Fastback and K2 are comparable?

Honestly, i think most bikes are. Not too many bad frames out there, just some you pay more for based on name, and popularity. I know that doesnt do much for the retail price of the bike, but, if you can find a used one it sure does. My k2 retails for almost $4000, i got it used with about 500 miles, full DA and Ksyriums, for $1700 shipped. If the bike fits, and the price is right, go for it! More fun to be different anyway, instead of being one of the 20 specialized in every group ride.

Riding a bike from '73 you can be sure that I relate to that statement!
