I'm going to be cycling from Phoenix to Tucson and then on to Bisbee through Benson. The route seems pretty easy but the stretch from here to Tucson isn't totally fleshed out. I've been told that there is a way to connect to a frontage road parallel to the I-10 that is easier than the long way down Highway 79. Can you recommend a detailed route that would make this go more smoothly?

Thanks!

Here is the route I took from Casa Grande to Tucson. It was really quite boring and ugly, but I got home in one piece. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3121707

Maybe someone from Phx can help you get to Casa Grande

Actually, to throw my 2 cents worth in, I would either bike out US 60 from Apache Junction to Florence Junction and then down Arizona State 79 or I would ride out Arizona 87 to Arizona 79. Arizona 79 drops you into Arizona 77 in Catalina which is a really good stretch of road. Between Catalina and Florence on 79 things are a bit tight in certain sections but fortunately there are tons of good views and it's not pancake flat like taking I-10.
