Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

As I type this it is 34 degrees outside. It is also 9:30 in the morning. If it wasn't the weekend I would have headed out the door almost 2 hours ago, and a few degrees cooler, to pedal to work.
I have observed that one of two things has happened since last Fall. Either I have become more of a wimp, or I am genuinely feeling the cold more than last year.
I have joked with a co-worker, who has also lost quite a bit of weight this last year, and he is noticing the same thing. So, for all the good things you get from losing weight, the wind tosses you around like an empty grocery bag, and apparently you can't hold your heat in either.
I need more clothes ;)

No, you're not a wimp. Used to be I didn't need a jacket til it got well down into the 40s. After losing 175 pounds I now need lots of layers. I just got back to riding and I'm about to head out in 50 degree weather in a few minutes. Very curious how long I'll be out.

I noticed this same thing this year. I handled the heat much better than usual as well though. 100 degrees didn't bother me. Before, anything above 85 and I was sweating so much I couldn't think! Now I'm shivering like a frail old woman at 50!

3 inches of snow and 19F this am here...
town 2 hours east of me got 15 inches of snow...
A Merino wool blend as a base layer works well for me. But I always layer during the cooler temps.
I am awaiting my order from aerotechdesigns.com it was getting a bit chilly for shorts and a tank top. Hope to extend my riding season at least till the roads are snow covered this year. Surgery has ment very few miles this season. :(

Nah, I'm a few pounds heavier than last year, and I still can't face the weather outside. In my case, it might have something to do with the fact that 3 weeks ago we had the warmest day of the year. Screwy weather patterns, i haven't had a chance to acclimate.

Yep. 16°F in Denver this morning. Only 1/2" of snow. Went
for a short 6.5 mile ride. I got to try out my new cold weather
toys today. ATV mitts from Cabelas.
Toasty warm digits but the rest of me was a little cool when I was done riding.
I need to dig out the rest of my winter gear.
