Texas - Houston Press Feature Story this week

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Of course, I have an unfair advantage, as I am awake and about when the Houston Press is delivered in the wee hours of Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

The recent conviction of the mobile-communication-device-distracted driver in, IIRC, the DFW area is a step in the right direction, though she did not strike a cyclist. It will be interesting to see what happens to the driver who killed that couple on a tandem in the Helotes area.

I noticed on my ride yesterday that there was a sign that said "cell phone use prohibited $200 fine" on memorial dr near hunters creek. I also no longer see the no bikes sign either in that area.

If the goal of that story was to scare people away from riding their bikes, then I have to say they knocked out of the park.

Just another crap piece by a shock-jock journalist.

It was probably on the same pole or very near a school zone sign.

Yeah, the no cell phone use thing is a school zone only law unless it is one of the villages that passed their own law.

The cover page to the houston press was a little over the top. They did seem to touch base on some points I could relate to but in all honesty I never did finish the article Houston press stories can be a little long winded for my taste.
