That right, I feel like a wimp. In the last three weeks, I have only ridden my bike once.:( Granted, that one time was a metric that was fairly tough, but still. Life has me doing everything but riding lately. I did need some time off to heal up from all the weight training, but now that I seem to be better, I don't seem to have the motivation to get out and ride right now. Not only that, my eating is out of control, so I feel double guilty about that too. Sorry about the post, but I felt the need to get this off my chest right now.
I feel ya. I was feeling a little out of sync this weekend. I decided to veto my "training plan" today due to my cold/sinus issues. I just went for a nice walk instead.
Great thing is that you can get back on track! Have you made any personal goals? Joined a bike club?

OK Hill Pumper - First off not a wimp!! You are here and posting. Congrats on getting honest. We hear you - the trick is to STOP the out of control eating. I mean what can you do today? I know as a compulsive overeater it can get bad - but the good news is I can always stop right now. So come on over to the Biggest Loser thread - and commit to goals for the week. Maybe for you and me it is just to stay the same weight this week.
Also how bout finding a bike group who is doing a recovery ride tomorrow night and join them...
Glad you shared!!
Go get em!

Can you integrate your commute into your ride? Or does weather not permit/is work currently too far from you? With the seasonal change and the start of the semester, my workout plan has hit a roadblock, but commuting by bike has given me some stability.
Best of luck to you. Only one thing to do, get back to it. It's only failure if you don't get back on that saddle. No guilt, just hop back on. I haven't been posting on BF long, but I'm willing to guess that everybody here has been there.

Hello Jeff
First and foremost, you know your not a wimp so get control of the neg thoughts. I have also not been riding much lately. Last big ride was the Clyde ride. Went a month without even commuting, even during bike to work month. I have just recently gotten back on.
So hows the weather, cold? Wet?
Well at least remember that wimps don't reach out: )

Thanks for the support, I needed a little boost in the shorts. October is usually a hard month for me to get out a do regular exercise. I spend a great deal of the month upland hunting, which is decent exercise for my legs, but poor cardio. That, plus I have been on vacation this week, which put me in the house more and closer to food. I have not weighed myself in the last three weeks, so I don't know if I gained anything or not. It looks like rain for the best part of next week which may motivate me into the gym instead of the field. I have committed to doing some mountain bike riding on some fire roads next weekend, so at least it will be a start back in the right direction. There are a few other issues going on in my life right now that I will share soon. Thank again for the needed support. !!!!!:)

Hey buddy I am with you on the bike issue. I haven't got on my bike since the peach also. My excuse has been school (started the day after) and my life has been very hectic because of that. I need to get out and ride.

Heh, it's been since July 3rd since I have ridden. 5 weeks of that time frame was basically a modified bed rest ordeal. The diet plan went out the window, as did a sleep scedule.
I'm slowly using my right leg with the crutches and putting some weight on it. I've done so mych PT I could have bought a close out 09 Allez with my co-pays though. Teo weeks until full weight bearing.
I figure I can sneak a ride around the block on the small ring then with any luck.

Ya wimp, get on the bike. You have to ride every day, and longer and harder every day, otherwise you don't count as a cyclist. Drop the motivation crap. Feelings have nothing to do with it. No one cares about whatever else you have to do, ride ride ride. A century a day, NOW! You aren't supposed to be enjoying it. Cycling is HELL!

I've been slacking myself a bit lately as well, mostly due to the weather. I was reading this around 6 am this morning and it inspired me to quit being a sissy hanging on the computer and throw some long johns on and hit the road, got a quick 20 in before anybody else was up and I feel great. Love this forum.

My suggestion is to get on the bike and go for a short ride. See how you feel on the bike. I didn't ride for about 3 weeks, because of stupid excuses on my part. I got back on the bike and did a short 20 miles and wondered why I stopped. Now, I even did 20 miles the last two days on the rollers in the basement. I don't handle the cold very well, so this was the only thing I could do. I did 20 this morning and will do 20 tomorrow after I do a 1.5 mile swim. Running is out for me, until I drop more weight, then I will be doing those three as much as I can without overdoing it.
Get on the bike and ride!!!

I know how you feel, I'm having road bike withdrawals from completely destroying my rear wheel spokes on an ascent. I went on a 40 mile loop by my house last saturday and about 36.x miles in this one very steep hill just killed the spokes. Shockingly I still managed to drop 5 pounds after 6 days of replacing cycling with walking. I feel like my legs are getting weaker every day even though I work out it just feels that way haha.

Just a little update here. I made it into the gym after my night shift this morning. I have put on 3 pounds, but it could have been worse I guess. It felt great to be active again!!! I'm going to ease back into things, but at least it's a start. This weekend I'm suppose to ride some trails, but the weather may kill that. Again, I wish to thank everyone for the boost, especially Doug the Snake, because you never want to make him mad at you.
