I've been down for a week now with the flu. I've been told it's likely been H1N1, but I can't be bother to spend the money to find out.

I'm just starting to feel better now. Hoping to get on the trainer tomorrow and tuesday. If I'm up to it. If so, I should be able to get out for a ride Wed and Thursday. Hopefully I'll be ready for Foxy's.

What has been your experience after being down sick for a week? Am I going to be ready for a century on Saturday?

Personally I wouldn't, but I am a pansy. One time I had flue, even after I got "better" longer rides would really drain me (I am not eve talking 60 miles here let along a century).

That doesn't give me much hope. I'm feeling much better this evening. Well enough to get on the trainer tomorrow and Tuesday. If all goes well, I'll hit the road on Wed. and Thursday and then decide.

I had the flu in late August. First couple of rides after were somewhat shaky, but I wasn't carrying much fitness before getting sick. You should be careful not to overdo it this week and leave yourself something in the tank for Saturday.

I'm on the tail end of mine now.

I think more rest would do you better than riding. You're already in good enough shape to knock out the century on Saturday so going too hard too soon is only going to be counter productive.

I got it very lightly, probably because I have Teacher-Super-Powers, but my dd has had it...after a week, she really didn't take it easy, and is now on a secondary infection, and this was also the case of a co-workers dd as well. You feel fine, and get active too soon, then out another week...so be careful.

Oh, and if you have flu now, and it's not flu season, it's H1N1 - so say the local docs that students have seen. I had about 5 cases in my class, and last week, another teacher had 1/2 her class out with it!

That's what I've heard. At least now I won't get sick with the great H1N1 pandemic flows through.

Trainer tomorrow, though not real hard. We'll see how it goes from there. Believe me, I don't want a secondary infection! But I'm now 3 days fever free and just dealing with the clogged sinuses part, and that's about done now too.
