not to rub it in, but it sure was great having a race 5 blocks from the house.

Mayo, I totally regretted that beer hand-up/prime I took from you! I was trying to unload that thing on the hill, but I couldn't coordinate my limbs to do it. But it was nice after the race. thanks!
man was that course tough! It totally revealed how bad my bike handling sucks...
On lap two I took that tricky descent too hot and got bogged down in the ropes. I tossed the beer to Mr. Scrooby but the media man was busy snapping my photo, he did deftly catch it with one hand and - unfortunately - had plenty of time to tuck it neatly back into my jersey pocket before I got myself sorted out. Probably because I got off the bike to untie and then reorient myself uphill for 4 friggin feet to turn left and back down hill. I lost gobs of places.
On lap three, in exactly the same place, I once again F'ed up that turn but worse: I was a full bike length off course. But after standing there for a second or two (remember I'm facing down hill) thinking about how I'd have to turn 180* to go 4 feet to turn 180* and head down hill again...I caved. I cut the course and I rightly got boo'ed. I knew what I was doing and smiled the whole way down hill--my wife was an unfortunate witness to my darker side and got some hilarious shots to prove it. The loudest guy had a bottle of wine in his left hand and was pointing at me with his right. Everyone else is laughing. Good times! I forever lost gobs of places I had just taken on the uphill. I prob. finished somewhere around 30th.
Lap four: I flew down that descent and managed it near perfectly. I'm a slow learner.
Fun stuff though. Bev.Bike-Vee Pak did a great job!

That hill was rough. The last lap I wasn't able to run it up anymore, I was crawling like a snail.
At least during the Masters 30+ I didn't come in DFL, even tho I did get lapped.
The start of the 4a was insane. I started in the back and man.. it was worse than the Eisenhower during rush hour. One crash not even 20 yards from the start, then another one right at the mud hole before corner 2.
I slid out on that downhill section and slid and got tangled with someones handlebar who had already negotiated the turn. Crazy.
My garmin said 10.8mph avg for the race.
I'm totally sour btw... my legs are hurting.

Hardest day I've had on the bike since Spring. Did 2 races and faded hard at the end of the 4As. In the 30+ we did 4 laps so I figured we'd do 3 in the 4's. I guess I was going just fast enough to no get pulled and go around for lap number 4: another climb, another run up, another twisted downhill.
I try not to look at my results since they are so dismal. i certainly had fun.
Slept 10 hours.

I ended up in a bad crash early on...yes that was me. I was sitting about 20 back and was settling in for a good race when my bars got hooked on the tape and it yanked me off the bike. I got tangled with another racer and my bike got run over a bunch of times. I figured it was over at that point but decided to keep racing.
Took me forever but I finally passed Mayonnaise. Said hey as I went by. I was pegged that entire race but felt like I left some on the table when I left. I really don't hit my stride until everyone starts dying 1/2 hour in. I need longer races.
I've got weird bruises again today. Yay cyclocross. Props to Tony and the Beverly guys.
See you guys this weekend...
