I saw some of the B race riding it. You had to hit it from the right side at speed, head over to the left side, reaching the tape, then turn right and zig back that way.

Somehow I didn't get lapped but finished 9 minutes down. Had a pretty bad race; didn't warm up well, fell on the first lap in a dumb spot and tweaked my knee pretty good. I ended up having three run ups in my interpretation of the course; thought I'd ride the two that everyone else ran, but I was passing people when I ran so I kept doing it.

Was going to do the B race but my knee was pretty painful after I got off the bike. The hot apple cider after the race was killer.

aside from the grassy hill after the sharp right-turn on pavement, what else were people running up?

The single track up to the playground area was the other major run.

I rode the short hill with the right turn at the top (it was after the mud patch early in the course after crossing the pavement), but on the last one I stalled at the top. I saw some people run it in front of me due to a jam of people.

Good course. Not nearly as wet and cold as I feared. Hills kill me - I either need to get my butt in better shape, or buy a bike with gears. I had a crummy first lap - started great, made a baller pass on about 6 guys early, then managed to fall over in a slow corner and never really felt good afterward. Mike blowing by me like I was standing still after the run-up on lap 2 didn't help.

The run-up was rideable. Almost made it on my mtn bike in the B race, but had no legs left, so stalled 3/4 of the way up. Easily would have cleared it if I was fresh. Hitting it fast and good front/rear balance were key.

Funny thing, I think the gears on the mountain bike hurt me more than the weight. Hill? Sure, just drop down a few gears and spin (and let the rest of the pack pull away). Those B guys are fast - I (almost) held on for the first lap, but was fading really fast and decided hot cider was a better idea. RJ finished the B race a lap down, but had a blast (he was mid-pack in the C).

the race was fun and the weather really wasn't that bad at all. Did ok in the C race considering I missed the start...
