I picked up the bike after not riding for something like 5 or 6 years and having worked at a desk for 4 of those years. I went from 52 to a 48 pant size and have been feeling much better.

Then on Thursday I stupidly try and bump my chain with my foot because it was hung between gears. nevermind I've done this several times or I should've adjust the derailer when it first started happening. but this time I missed the chain and got my right foot stuck between the spokes of my back wheel. Which makes the back wheel stop from about 18-20 mph to 0 in a second and sends my bike into a fish tail and then a slide. I have a pretty bad road rash on my elbow and hip and broke my wrist. I can't ride for at least a month.

What activity can I do that will come close to calorie output? I really want to keep getting healthy. I've been walking my dog the last few days since the accident but I know I'm not getting the same activity level this way.

What about riding a stationary bike at the gym or getting a trainer for use at home? I find both to be pretty boring, but you can get a pretty decent work-out if you can convince yourself to put the time in...
