Bicycle Mechanics - Dont Know how to Install my Toe Clips!?

Ok, so I just got these toe clips, and the package doesn't come with instructions.. so can you guys help?

I have regular pedals, and the clips come with the plastic clip itself, along with four screws and two nylon straps.

A.) The plastic clips don't have screw holes, so I'm wondering how the can be effective. Furthermore, I'm not sure where I can find screw holes on my bike pedal.

B.) I don't know how to place the clip itself on the pedal. Does it go on top of the pedal, or does the bottom half slip under the pedal or what?

C.) Do the straps hold the pedal and the clip together, or the screws? It seems like my pedal has slits for the strap, but I'm not sure how to strap the two pieces onto one another, or if these slits are actually screw holes...

Also, is the plastic toe clip supposed to slip in between the grooves/grips on the bicycle pedal? I assume so, but there's not a perfect slip. maybe the pedal is backwards? I dont think so, but it's hard to tell..

Anyways, sorry if this is confusing, but I really don't know!

you have to remove the factory reflector i think and then screw the toe clip in and then the strap should wrap around your foot and the plactic clip

their are slits as screw holes for different kinds of pedals

Thanks. No joke, I spent at least 10 mins analyzing and fiddling with the pedal trying to figure out if my pedal just didn't have holes, or if I was supposed to take off a reflector. And then another 10 trying to unscrew the wrong reflector when the right one popped off.. Somebody describing how to install these things left out the reflector part.. grrr... Thanks!

Make sure the straps are not put through the buckles like a pair of sandals, or else you wont be able to loosen them while riding. The strap just goes between the roller and the top of the buckle, with the top of the buckle at the outside of your foot pointing up. You then tighten them by pulling up on the strap, and loosen them by pushing outwards on the top of the buckle with your finger tip. Try it while leaning against a wall before riding. When riding dont forget to pull you foot backwards - it takes a bit of getting used to.

But for these pedals to work the way they were originally intended, you need the older style shoe with a plastic cleat on the bottom that has a grove in it design to clip onto the rear part of the pedal cage. Without these type of shoes your not going to get the pulling power the newer style has.

Those plastic cleats were only ever used by competative racers. Most tourist, commuters and other riders used toe clips without the cleat. You don't even have to cinch the straps tight to get an advantage over plain platform pedals.
When you thread the strap through the pedals, put a twist in the strap to prevent it moving.
