I have this '85 Peloton that is in overall nice shape with Superbe pro components. The hubs are Superbe pro but the rims are not original AFAIK. The catalog says it came with tubulars and these just say hard anodized and are aero clinchers. Of course the hubs have been re-laced with silver bladed spokes, the front radially.
I didn't get a real grasp of the value from research. I know Superbe Pro is pretty desirable and the Japan made Columbus tubing rides darn good.
Does the rim/spoke difference make it a up, side or downgrade and what is the opinion on value as a complete bike?
Superbe Pro seatpost. Cinelli bars and stem. Tange headset. Dia Compe RGC 400 brakes.
Here's the pics in dirty condition. Down tube Columbus sticker is pretty ratty otherwise the paint is in very good condition with no dents, just some nicks. Saddle and pedals are not original.

Bike has pretty good value for the reasons you mentioned. I do not think the wheels detract from the value. Is the stem a Superbe Pro as well? Brake levers? Obviously, calipers are not Superbe Pro.

I would do a thorough clean up as you have planned, and I would change out the bar tape to something a little more classic looking (single color). With the tires, perhaps a yellow tape would look good?? I am not sure on that aspect. I would also replace the cable housing on the RD. With just a little bit of work (and very little $$), this bike would look perfect!

You are in SoCal, where values are a whole different world than around here.

You are in a market, and a bike level where I do not normally deal. So I will leave the pricing to others.

$300-325 would be my best guess.

The Peloton is a very nice bike.

With Superbe Pro hubs? I say 400-450 easy in Chicago in season, if advertised correctly. Don't know about your location.
