I've always had a fascination with bicycles.
In high school, my neighbor was a near-pro mountain bicyclist. He inspired me to get into cycling. I went out and bought a GT Outpost (the first year they came with front suspension), and I would ride on the trails in his "woods." I loved it.
However, I never quite enjoyed taking the bike on the road. Well, that's a gnomer isn't it!
Anyways, fast track quite a few years... I am now 23, living in downtown Minneapolis, MN. I live on the campus I go to school at, and I work 10 blocks away. IT'S ABOUT TIME I GET A BIKE! I have quite a few friends who ride around. Not to mention, Minneapolis is one of THE BEST cities in the nation to ride bikes in!
So, I've already used this forum to do some research as I am in the process of buying my "first" bike... and absolutely my first road bike.
Right now, I am bidding on an '82 Peugeot Super Champion on eBay, which I am finding out is a really nice frame.
I'm excited to build it up as a nice single/fixie to ride around town.
I'm hoping I won't have too many threading issues, but the BB is apparently in good condition.
Any suggestions for a new commuter?!?!
