Hello. Great forum you have assembled here. Lots of great information.

Back in about 1975 or so, I assembled a bicycle from various parts. Some of the parts were good. It has a Nervar Star crankset, a Shimano Crane rear derail. and '500' front derail.. Shifters are SunTour fingertip style. The Brakes are center-pull GB "88" and the handlebars are Belleri racing-style bend. The frame and fork are steel and nothing very good. I didn't really know what I was doing and the fork didn't fit the frame very well. And there is a "skip" when it's pedaled hard. I don't know if it;s skipping from something going on inside the bottom bracket or if it's happening in the rear sprocket. Anyway, the bike hasn't been ridden in years and I'm wondering if it would be feasible to part it out for the components.

Thoughts? Advice? Thanks in advance.

Probably a case of worn chain/rear sprockets.
Sounds like a good bike for soft pedaling.
With the possible exception of the crankset, the components aren't likely worth much.
If you don't want it, you could try to find someone who does. Or just leave it unlocked near a school.

Sure, you could part it out. The Crane RD is nice and probably sought out. Why not service the bike and keep it around?

Hello again. Thank you for the responses.

I wish I still had the box that the Nervar crankset came in. Those cranks do look really cool and it seems to be a very lightweight set.

Maybe I'll get a new fork and headset and tweek it out. It's kind of a cool bike, I guess. Thanks for the advice!

The skip could be a stuck chain link.

what kind of frame is it?

Hi.

The frame is just a generic steel frame. I think it might have come from Sears and Roebuck. I will try to get some pictures posted soon.

Yeah. Maybe the chain is stiff. But I think it might be the sprocket, too.

Thanks
