General Cycling Discussion - Kickbike plans

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I don't have the kinda cash that is needed for a real pushbike. I have been searching all over the www to try and find plans for a simple pushbike. There are plans for bents so one would think that there would be plans to build your own pushbike. Can anyone help me with my search, please........pushbike AKA:kickbike
Thanks

I jsut Yahooed kickbike to see what one looks like.
Hmm, ok i gues you get a road fork, headset, handlebars, etc. a smaller wheel, maybe kids bike with proper tires.
the onyl hard part is making the frame. see it has front and rear brakes, so you would have to find a suitable mounting spot. Basically, you might have to learn to braze or weld one yourself. You might be able to jury0rig one form an old cruiser..but it will most likely not sit right.
Really though, I don't see that frame as beng too hard to make, just find a frame you can take the headtube from and a few other tubes to make it the way you want. given, it may not be as pretty, but it may work.
Other thing is it is often more costly to build a bike than it is to jsut buy one...so keep that in mind as well. price everything you can buy right now and see if your willing to spend that, and more for that frame.

I also imagine you could likely buy cheaper than build (check out ebay) but if it is building resources you want....Brad Graham has a book and a web site about "garage hacking" bicycles. The book may include a kickbike, I dunno, check it out.
Atomic Zombie Bike Building Site (http://www.atomiczombie.com/)
There is also a homebuilt kick bike /scooter shown in the Bicycle Forest Home Builder's Gallery, you might try contacting the builder directly for info....
The Bicycle Forest (http://www.bikeforest.com/)
Looks like they've sold on ebay used for $127.... there's a new one listed there as well.
