Well since I think I've narrowed my choice down for the next "better" ride to an '04 Cro-Mol Allez Comp in blue...I figured this would go along nicely as a knock around bike, & for riding during the colder months, etc.

It's actual a 1994 (called specialized and confirmed) Allez Sport. The color is very close to the '04 color I am looking at.

I'm planning on swapping all my 105 components off my Sirrus and convert the old bird to STI. All I'll need to get is a crankset, new rims, and I want to upgrade to a carbon fork on it.

I'm excited to get it and see how it feels, older steel technology. According to Specialized the frame weighs in around the mid 4lb range, not too shabby.

I'm thinking about upgrading the '04 to Mavic ksyrium elite rims and then swapping the stock wheelset onto this one. I confirmed it has 130mm rear drop out spacing, so it should be fairly straight forward to upgrade.

Ah...projects eh? :)

That's pretty much like the 1993 Specialized Allez I had except I had swapped out the downtube shifters to mount SRAM GripShifts at the end of the handlebars... worked pretty well and the setup turned out clean. The frame rides very nice but is a tad heavy compared to today's bikes... even steel ones. I believe the tubing is actually Tange Prestige. However, it's a good stable geometry and a fun ride. Good luck with the bike build.
