Bicycle Mechanics - Good pump?!

I need a pump for my presta valve tires.

I read a lot of good things about the SKS Rennkompressor, but it is a bit pricy.

Any thoughts?

are you looking for a floor pump or a frame pump? for a floor pump I think Silca are the best. frame pumps full size Zefal HPx

SKS is a good product and pricey from what you state which figures. I know the air guns, the pumps too.

Hard to beat Silca; one's 50 other's 60, the difference is in volume and handle.
They both have built-in guages that I've found are reliable, they go -up to 200 PSI while most go to 160 etc. AND are rebuildable. 200 is nice, you'll have PLENTY of pressure (more inportant than volume) with plenty more to spare at normal pressures.

I love my Silca. I even have the one with the most hated plastic handle of all time, but the pump still rules. It took about 5 years to get used to that handle. I've now had it about 12 years. I've replaced the rubber once, just about due for a refresh again.

I bought the SKS anniversary edition.

Love it.

Once in a while, it's good to buy something that you /think/ you can own for a lifetime.

Check back in 35 years....

I have the Silca. Bought it in 93 or 94. Replace parts as necessary.
