I'm really having immense difficulty getting these tires on my wheelset. i get a little bit more than halfway and it's impossible from there. does anybody have any words of wisdom? I'm afraid i'll bend the rim if i use the tire lever.

Campy rims are notoriously difficult with tires. I don't have any advice other than to use the tire iron carefully.

Wax the bead of the tire and the inside edge of tire. Then either try rolling the tire onto it or grabbing the wheel with your both your hands using your pointers,middles,rings, pinkies to hold on and use your thumbs to work the tire onto the rim.

Unecessary. Smart use of tyre levers and properly sized tubes = win.

Unecessary. Smart use of tyre levers and properly sized tubes = win. Absolutely, but there are some/tire rim combo's out there that are tricky even with smart use of tyre levers and proper sized tubes.

Hardest I tire/rim combo I have ever mounted were the Intense 3 ply downhill tires to mavic EX729's with the right sized tube. Using normal plastic tire levers were not an option as they would bend then snap. Wound up waxing and using the large metal park tire levers to get them on.

But otherwise yeah, there are some exemptions though to it.

I've repaird about a million flats on the ****tiest utility bikes to $15k weight weenie bikes, plastic tacx levers have never failed me yet. I'd like to see these rim combos that can't be put on using regular levers.

First I need to correct myself, 4 ply.

Intense 909 Fro's

Mavic EX 729's.

Haven't found a road tire combo yet that required wax since I can pretty much muscle them on and off, including 700x20's and below.
