has anyone seen these? i am building a bike, and was going to go with the avid mechanical. these look like a good option, dual piston design, and just a little more money. Thoughts?

I'm assuming you're talking about the dual banger cable brake? IRD makes/has mad some pretty cool things. Not all have been commercially accepted, but they are definitely thinking over there. From what I've seen/read about it, the dual banger seems like a very smart brake. And it looks good, to boot. That said, they haven't hit the market yet. I pulled this from the IRD website.

"Our Dual Banger Mechanical Disc Brake will drop in mid-July. This is the only mechanical disc design with pads that actually clamp this disc syncronously."

I just called my biggest supplier. They knew about as much as was on the IRD site. Nobody has them yet, but my supplier has a note to call me when they are in stock. I don't have any pricing info on them yet. I haven't found any current info on their hydraulic brake, but I do know that one of the issues was pad availability. That'd be a concern of the mech brake as well.

For a mechanical disc, you still can't go wrong with the Avids. It's a great brake, pad availability is great, and it's super easy to set up and adjust. For now anyway, I'd stick with the Avids.
