I currently have the PB Blaze 1W. I'm fairly new, and don't have any friends that have any crazy lighting systems like on these forums. PB just released their 2W which I might be interested in, and I've been fairly happy with my 1W in city streets. But I'm starting to be attracted to building my own.
For a start, does anyone have any comparison beam shots of the PB Blaze 1W, 2W, and stronger 500 lumens up systems...
It is hard for me to realize what a difference in lumens makes until I probably see it in person though.
The Blaze is using single Cree XR-E P3 LED at about 70 lumens.
Thanks.
The Blaze 1w is a great light for the amount of light it puts out. But you can get lights that put out 8x the light for approximately the same cost.
Assuming that the 2w puts out twice as much light, you're not likely to notice much difference between the two. Yes, the 2w will be brighter, but it won't look to be twice as bright.
And at $60, I'd suggest what I suggested at http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=9828197&postcount=249 instead. Use your existing light as a backup, and the P7 light as your main light.

Thanks Doug. I guess you are right. double the Blaze wouldn't really seem like that much more.
I did get the Blaze 1W with Superflash combo for $45 at REI when it was on sale, so that price was good. Buying the 2W at $60 full price wouldn't be worth it.
I was thinking of getting a flashlight like the P7, or the Magicshine 900, or DIY 3 LED Square Aluminum pipe.
Would the P7 (spec'ed at 900 lumens) be similar to the Magicshine 900? Or one is more flood or beam oriented?

However, if anyone has any pics or info on the Blaze 2W, please post. Thanks.

What's a "lum"? I heard of lux an I heard of lumen. Is "lum" a combo of those two?
And to answer your question, 1 watt equals... (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+many+lumen+is+1+watt%3F)

It depends on the light... it isn't a simple calculation.
