Cyclocross - anyone racing cx with moustache bars?

If so, what levers are you using? Ones designed for drops? or mtn type levers?

I have some Pyramid brand ones that i purchased for $8 but find that they don't return very smooth ala modern levers with springs.

If you are talking about Nitto mustache bars you should be using road levers.

I don't think I'd like mustache bars for cross, I think the ends would be too close to my body and I'd probably be hitting my knees or my chest when dismounting or something. Plus the positions mustache bars offer I don't think would be helpful racing. I doubt I'd find myself putting my hands anywhere but in the curves whereas regular drops I'm on the hoods or in the drops or on top of the bar during races.

BTW- mustache bars are sized and meant for road brake levers, not mtn levers.

I use a pair of redline moustache bars on my SS bike. I find them a ton of fun to race and cornering on these extra wide bars is noticeably better. No issues with knee interference. I use some old school white non-aero modolo concorde levers that took me 6 months to find on ebay.

I also get lots of extra encouragement during races because people love the bars.

He was pretty fast too. I've ran moustache bars with an STI. It works ok, kind of a weird motion to shift but for the street it was fine. For brakes, I run some old non-aero brake levers.

I'm inspired. I'm going to put my campy ergo on the right and a cane creek on the left for a 1X8 or 1x9?? I hope getting to the dog tag ear isn't difficult.

On a similar note (i've already asked on the mechanics section already but figure i'd ask here as well), anyone know if a campy mirage ergo 9speed will work with a Shimano Sora rear and 8 speed cassette, ala hubbub method? I know it works for 10 sp ergo/9sp shimano cassette and derailleur.
