So I'm new to CX, trying to learn/practice as much as a I can. Recently did my 1st race and there was a certain turn in the course that a few times I felt my front wheel wanting to slide from under me.

I didn't fall, but I could feel it jerk and wanting to slip and I would try to correct right away. Is there something that I was doing that would cause that? Too much speed? not cornering properly? Just trying to figure out afterwards what I need to do better.

btw running Michelin Muds, 38psi front, 40psi rear, weight 168

thanks

Were you braking?

What was the surface like in that turn?

How was it different from other turns?

I wasn't braking during the turn, it was a 90degree turn w/ a slight incline, very slight.

I can't recall how it was much different than the other turns, maybe i was going into it with more speed. Everything happened so quickly.
Wondering what on my technique was off

If you nearly slipped but didn't lose control, it may be that you didn't do anything wrong. It sounds to me like speed was the most likely cause, but I'm just guessing. Someone else may have a better answer.

less pressure

My front tire wants to wash out on me all the time. I think usually it's just from putting too much weight on the front, too much pressure down when the wheel is a bit sideways. It's partly b/c how my bike fits me, I believe. So I just try to keep my weight back going around turns when I can.
