My search continues... I keep going back and forth, trying to decide whether I want to buy or build, new or used, etc.
I received an email from a guy who says he has a nice Japanese steel bike that he'll sell WITHOUT wheels. I haven't seen it yet, but plan to go check it out and ride it soon.

here is his description:

It is an Omni built with 973 superlight bouble butted tubing, lugged
frame painted medium metallic blue with an extremely nice chrome fork,
it will take brakes and fairly large tires, rear facing track ends.
Sugino track cranks and bottom bracket, Tange track headset, SR cold
forged stem and track bars, SR track post and Kashima saddle, MKS track
pedals.

any thoughts?
thanks.

Matty

Sounds good, what is the price though? I say ride it and see how it feels, then decide, sometimes a cheap @ss frame feels right somehow.

oh, sorry... he said 500 bucks. Thats a decent anount of money. I just Googled Omni and the only bike thing I came up with was a Russian company and I didnt see any fixies on their site...?
Does anyone know this manufacturer? Are they Japanese? "Omni" doesn't sound Japanese to me...

Considering the quality of the components it doesn't sound like too bad of a deal for 500, real track components aren't cheap.
