Winter Cycling - Recommendations on first time trainer purchase

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, anyone have any recommendations for a first time buyer of a indoor bicycle trainer. I will be putting my Orbea on it. I'm not looking to break the bank either. Max of $300. Thanks!
I'm not sure this is the right sub-forum to ask that question.
Most of us around here do what it takes to ride outdoors, rather than being punishing ourselves in that special hell that is the trainer.
YMMV.

The only advice I can give is to buy a cheap trainer. I bought one last and used it maybe 3 times. I just can't get into riding indoors. I put the trainer in front of the tv, played movies and so on. Nothing like being outdoors. This year I'm spending money on the winter gear.

I highly recommend a Kurt Kinetic. I am using a 2nd hand one now and it is great. It is extremely quiet, smooth and mimics riding on the road better than any other I have tried so far. A few buying tips - REI has a 20% off coupon right now if you are a member. If you are not keep you eyes on Craigslist - they show up on there for a fraction of the new price. There was one on my local CL last night for $100 in fact.
