Hello all, first time poster here.

Anyone else doing the tour de bronx on sunday? Looks like I am riding solo as of right now.

I did it last year. It was horrible. Not organized. We had to stop so many times. Not doing it again this year. Besides, it's going to rain.

I've never done it; have heard only good things from everyone up till now.

But yes, it looks like the weather will be terrible...in which case I'll be sleeping in and eating bon bons all morning.

I've Marshalled it for several years and hop to again sunday. The ride is VERY organized and next to the TA century gets the most riders of any NYC ride they put on.
What does occur is that there are rest stops which for a strong rider occur too often. Additionally at these stops they re-group before they ride out preventing the ride from getting stretched out.

I do agree that the start at the court is a long dragged out project with a few speeches, but mostly standing for no reason.

That's good to know - any idea as to where/when to expect notification if it's postponed? I imagine registered riders might just get an email? Or just watch TA's site for an update?

I registered for the MS Tappan Zee Ride before I knew there was a conflict. Now it looks like that may fall through. It actually snowed in Rockland County yesterday and they have no rain/snow date. I wish I'd been selfish and registered for the TDB too. At least I could've done the rain date.

well - on the bright side, if it does rain on the 18th, you can still make the TdBrx!:thumb:

I really hope to do this one, I missed the MS and Escape from NY rides....I'm jonesin' for some miles.

Every organized ride I've done this season, except the Tour de Brooklyn, was in the rain! This is ridiculous!!!!I want my summer back

AHA---so you're the one that's been jinxing the rides!!
Don't feel bad..I even got rained on when I've done rides that weren't organized.
Just one of those summers.
Although I must say I had some great perfect days on lots of rides this summer.
Let's hope for an Indian Summer

I have also registered for the tour and I will bike to the starting point (161 and Grand Concourse) from E80s. So what is a good way to go? Which bridge should I take to go to the Bronx?
Thanks

Even though it wasn't the best of summers and the fall so far has been mostly awful (my commute feels more like late November), all of the TA rides I went on turned out to be great and on beautiful days:

Tour De Brooklyn
Tour De Queens
NYC Century
Queens Around the World

This is my first time doing the Tour De Bronx. Both my son and I are registered but he now has a conflict, so I am heading up from Brooklyn solo. The forecast for Sunday looks dreadful, so hopefully it will be postponed a week.

"Dear Rider:

The 15th annual Tour de Bronx has been rained out. After consultation with the NYPD and the Bronx Borough President's Office, it has become clear that Sunday's inclement weather would pose a safety risk to our 5,000 riders. We are working together to identify a future date on which we can hold the tour, and will post any developments at tourdebronx.org (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1102769944367&s=59901&e=0015LiY0eDkHD9TK8wDsiepZnhFEYATybrh88FVNh8G5DEV7xZdpDmHFuA9Wo3xJiwweI5h0DIIKscLTreJDJd5ZRxHOFx2mTD jHV0Jtxeh5Fk=).

For more information, you can reach our friends at the Bronx Borough President's office at (718) 590-3518. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. has issued the following statement to all riders:

“Unfortunately, due to concerns over weather and rider safety, and following discussions with City officials, I have decided to postpone the annual Tour De Bronx bicycle tour, which was scheduled for Sunday, October 18. My office is working to schedule a future date for this event, and I deeply regret the last minute nature of this announcement and any inconvenience this may cause those of you who were anticipating a wonderful ride through our Bronx streets.”

The Tour de Bronx is our longest-running free bike tour, and we are so disappointed that we won't have the chance to ride with our friends from the borough this Sunday. But the safety of our riders comes first.

We can't control the weather, but T.A. will continue working in the Bronx for safer biking year-round.

If you'd like to become more involved in our efforts, join T.A.'s Volunteer Bronx Committee on Wednesday, November 11th for its monthly meeting. Check the T.A. event calendar (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1102769944367&s=59901&e=0015LiY0eDkHD8CVOvuvh8cXI-Rz5KbMsepf_CcRXEhITpF0RMUUBlAa3wP2tqyCRqc071ThbAGdpxJ-WBs9nmBwa9OtqJOQOKj0-pnNFnZTS2t1bKiIywNs33D7-GqokuMLqZ3I4xiSQU=) for meeting time and location.

Stay Dry!

Hmm...it had been posted earlier that the 25th was the rain date....not sure why that is not stated as the new date yet?
