Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Edge 305 joined two separate rides - how to split 'em?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
After 7months, I'm still working out how to use this 305 properly. Case in point - I just learned that if you don't download after each ride, you need to reset the timer. I didn't do this a couple of times and end up with a couple of "monster" rides that appear to span 2-3days. When I load these into GarminConnect I get the joint rides scrunched up at either end of the profile graphs with 2days of nothing in the middle. If I load them into SportTracks first ride loads OK, but it only records the route of the second ride - all my HR, cadence, speed, elevation and timing data is lost.
So, can anyone tell me how to split this into 2 rides? Ideally I'd like to load them into SportTracks but suspect I might be SOL.

If you have a tcx (or gpx) file for the whole period (including the 2-3 days in between), I suspect you might not be SOL. I do not have a straightforward solution to your problem - but I think you can edit the tcx/gpx file to split it into two separate files which can then be imported for activities on 2 separate days.
If you edit (using a text editor) the gpx/tcs file which are normally in xml format, it should be possible to delete the irrelevant information. Sorry my info is not precise- if you email me your tcx/gpx - I can play with it and give it a shot.
The other option would be to use Sporttracks edit data track to do what you want.
Thanks I'll have a play with those options.

I had the same issue before. But for some strange reason, it doesnt do it anymore. The only things I have dont differently was, make sure I hit the stop button after every ride, plus I downloaded a software update from the garmin website. Another thing you can do before riding is make sure the data is reset before riding off.
