i have yet to use my bike with the seat in the forward position or add on aero bars. I had considered selling it and getting into a P2 but maybe I should give it a try to set it up with aero bars and change the seat position. maybe this would give me the position i am looking for. I am curious to hear if anyone else has done this and were you happy with the setup

I put on some profile designs f19 clip-on aerobars and a IMS Adamo seat in the forward position. I'm also considering getting a slightly longer stem for this position. It's worked out really well so far. I may one day consider a tri cockpit but I'm not sure it'll really add anything. Having the bike with drops + clip-ons makes it much more group ride friendly.
Cervelo used to have a good review of someone who trashed their tri bike leading up to Ironman CdA that was written unsolicited and they asked to use it.
Here is my take on it:
Could I get in to the position I have on my Felt B2 on a Cervelo Soloist correctly sized for me as a road bike? Maybe, but the handling would probably suffer a little.
Could I come up with a good compromise? Yes, probably put the nose right over the BB(with a saddle height of 71.5cm) and have a good saddle for moving back and forward on, with about 10cm of drop. I'd have a little bit of speed lost compared with a true TT setup, but not a ton.
Could a lot of people I know who ride their tri bike less agressively make great use of a Soloist set up for tris? Yes. I know a lot of people that either get out of their aerobars too much, and the drops would be a great alternative, or have a bunch of spacers on the tri bikes.

well i did my race yesterday, they canceled the swim and turned the race into a duathlon. today my quads are crying badly. the upside of this was I passed just about everybody including a few cervelo tri bikes. so I do not think i will go faster on a tri setup but i believe i might save my quads some for the run. any takes on this? I have no experience on a tri bike to know how much it matters on my legs for the total outcome here. I just know I am in the top 20% of anyone I competed against so far and I am on a road bike thats basically stock. only one guy passed me in 20k with ripping winds. my time was 36 minutes.
