'Just wondering why I'm still listed as a lowly regular dude when people who have been here for much less time have gotten their "Senior Member" badges (and I presume the salary increase and military draft exemption that go with such status).

All of that is based on the number of posts. The more you argue, the higher your standard.

Sorry but I do not believe that the above is accurate. I have over 4400 posts and have no such designation. I do not put too much stock into such things anyway. I think anyone can put it there in their description if they choose to do so, but I may be wrong on that. I can safely say that it has nothing to do with post count (I think:D).

It is not manual. The system bounces you through steps. My post count is around 500, and my rate is around 2 per day. I see that both of you are posting way under 1 per day. If it is not the count then it is the rate, but it is not manual nor is it based on time on the board. That is for sure.

I miss read baj32161's statics. You have nearly 3 post per day average, higher then me. Try removing the "Behind EVERYone!!!" line from your profile and see if your member status shows. Maybe your manual entry is overriding the boards automatic entry.

That doesn't seem possible. Since I've joined the ranks of the way underemployed, this is pretty much all I do most days. In fact, I'm getting pretty damned sick of seeing my mug plastered all over this newsgroup! I'd say I post more like ten times a day!

Hmmmm.....you not only misread my post, but misunderstood it. You may have missed the part that stated that I put no stock into such things. I think I will leave my description as is. No worries though.

I'd suggest that you're a post *****, but...really...43 posts in over three years!

I'm pretty certain that it changes automatically at certain post levels unless you've manually added your own description.

If you go to your "User Control Panel", look under "profile" and click on "edit your details". You'll see a box that says

This is the title that appears beneath your name on your posts. Check the 'Reset' box if you wish to use the default title for your usergroup and post count.
Your current user title is
VoodooChile

If you want to be a Senior Member, just check the box.

Yes...making it user definable does cheapen the designation to the point of tawdriness.

I've been wondering this for years, just look at my title. In my case I was a 'senior' almost immediately. Don't know why. At least now I really do feel like one, in both post count and actual age.

Now that I'm a senior member, I miss the days (last week) when I was young and full of energy. I want to go back. PLEASE let me go back!

You have to dress well, send a bottle of wine back at least once in your life,
show up at only the best events (where a six pack of domestic beer is still acceptable),
expose boxers only when bending over,
think you have a distinguished "touch" of gray hair, know 3 in 1 oil and have either ridden a mountain bike without shocks or used coaster breaks.
have room for one more bike(always), repaired your favorite chain whip, stirred your coffee with a Campy "peanut butter" bolt wrench,
patch tubes instead of just replace them, installed cottered cranks, know how to adjust a Sturmey-Archer 3 spd, glued on sew ups
and write stoopid stuff on the BF.
