Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Dale often doesn't answer his phone. He's usually there all alone (he sometimes has a kid helping, but I think that's mainly a weekend thing), and he gives priority to people who actually came into the store.
He was still in business last Wednesday, at least. He had a ton of new bikes in the shop. It was even harder than usual to walk through the place.

Don't suppose you can answer for Dale, but why even have a phone and publish the number if that's the case? (e.g. doesn't answer)

Ah, so it's the "don't call us, we'll call you" business model? For what I'm assuming is a retail shop?
That's a good idea in this economy, best of luck to 'em.

somewhat OT, but it is interesting how our default response is to allow any "remote" contact to divert us from those closest at hand. At dinner with family or friends, we'll usually answer the telephone when it rings, even if we have a message recorder. In a restaurant, or for many, while driving, when the cell phone rings ... we answer. If the case is indeed that Dale is helping a customer, more power to him.
Hey, Dale's on vacation for a week. He'll be back on Monday.

I suspect Angle Lake will be in business for a long, long time - based on depth of knowledge, unique niche in the market, etc.
However, it's amazing to me in general how many local businesses:
a. don't return phone messages left on their answering machines
b. don't return emails
On the other hand, there are some people in the bike business with a national (and even international) reputation who return emails personally within a couple of hours.

Would be nice to update customers on his voice mail message before folks drive out there
Dale is a good guy. He dose answer his call when he can. OTH, his organization skill is a different matter.
