Im just wondering whats the difference between the two? Any affect on performance? I was thinking about getting one because of how it looks.

You can raise a stem on a threaded headset more easily than a threadless one. Raising threadless stem requires readjusting the headset bearings and may require replacing the stem or installing a steerer extender.

Converting from a threaded headset to threadless requires a new unthreaded fork.

The stem is one of the least important components. If it is strong enough, and in the right position, its doing its job.
For a tourist, it is useful to be able to adjust a threadless headset using only allen keys, rather than large heavy headset wrenches.
Converting is rarely worthwhile.
