Hello all!
I am Jim and I think I will like bicycling. I am starting over after 20+ years away from this recreational sport. I live in the Philly area and I am looking for another rewarding hobby other than watching the Eagles ;-) My doctors are all happy that I am getting back into cycling, and I have very fond memories of riding around the park in the city. I have looked at the posts on the site and found the community to be very helpful and supportive. Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Welome to the forums and back to the cycling world! I just recently got back to cycling after a 6-7 year hiatus. Changed to a recumbent from a road bike. Awesome! It made cycling new again.

That sounds great Brian. Help a new guy out; what is a recumbent bike? I gather from your handle that it is some kind of bent frame. I have seen some listed on the web but no pics. I have found out that the bike I am interested in is called a "comfort bike" or a "hardtail". I think that is a cross between a road bike and a mountain bike. Enjoy it in any case. I will join the riding ranks soon!

Well a recumbent is a bike with a nice big comfortable seat, with a back on it. You lean back and relax. The pedals are out in front, either just behind, or in front of the front wheel. Very nice bikes. Ride well, fast, and extremely comfortable. Some manufacturers include RANS, Sun, Burley, Birchetta (not sure of spelling), Cycle Genius and a host of others. Search on recumbent bike with a search engine. There is lots of info out there. Also 'bent is slang for recumbent. Recumbents with fairing hold the land speed record of just over 80MPH. And that is not drafting another vehicle either. Have fun on your bike!

My wife who wears a crash helmet when I'm driving, convinced me that I held the land speed record. Oh well.
