My Flight Deck computer is geting weird. The odometer, avg and max speed, ride time and trip distance functions crapped out, but the cadence and current speed functions are working. Anyone run into this before? any suggestions on how to correct it??
Thanks in advance

My cateye wireless was acting crazy so I bought the Flight Deck and now you are saying the flight deck does the same thing... is it wireless or wired?

When was the last time you changed the battery?

I'm pretty good at stuff that has chains and sprockets, but to me, electronics might just as well be "magic." Since your cadence and current speed features are working, I'd rule out your wire harness, pickup and battery. That leaves the computer head itself. The head doesn't look like a user servicable part to me so I'd replace it.

actually the same thing happened to me just last week. are you sure the odometer isn't working? maybe it's just trip distance that stopped?
anyway heres what seemed to happen to me. prior to the problem if i hit both buttons on the hoods the trip distance, average speed, trip time, and the rest of that kind of stuff would zero out and restart. then one day last week i hit the 2 buttons, the things zero'd out but never restarted. i found that if i hit the left hand hood button again (sometimes i need to do it a couple times) it would restart and work like it was supposed to.
now i think hitting the button a second time was the way it was supposed to work in the first place, but prior to last week everything but the stop watch would restart when i zero'd it out. so maybe my buttons just arent as sensitive as they used to be? well give it a shot, and i'd be interested to know if this sounds similar to your problem and if it corrects it, just out of curiousity.
if thats not it another suggestion maybe to make sure the magnet hasnt moved a bit. miles per hour and cadence seem to be on a bit of a delay with the flight decks, so maybe the sensor is geting enough of a signal to show them but it's too week for the other things?

o one other suggestion, they sell the computers themselves separatly. if your friendly with your lbs maybe they would let you try sliding in a new computer just to test and see if it works.

This may be a dumb response, but have you checked the battery? I've had computers act weird on me and it turned out that he battery was on it's last legs. So, the first thing I can when a computer acts up is the battery. I actually have a spare battery in my fridge for this reason.

Since it knows the cadence (based on wheel rpm and gear selection), the sensor on the fork, the sensors in the shifters, and the related wiring are all functioning. That only leaves the computer itself. I'd replace the battery and if that failed replace the head. I don't think there's anything else you can do.

I've had mine for nearly a year and it works great! (... except the average speed seems a little low or it could just be the engine...).
I've had occassions when my FlightDeck gets a weird absurd data point (probably from some stray EM causing a bogus reading) that will screw up its AVG speed calculation. At that point, the AVG speed will just display "Err". The rest of the functions seem to work fine and a reset of the trip functions (not a hard reset) fixes the problem.

Shaharidan - Thanks for the clue. I went out and started messing with the buttons. Turns out that I had to depress the left button to re-activate the modes that had deactivated, or whatever. anyhow, it works now. I'm better at pedaling than messing around with the buttons and such, but I do like the fight deck.
Thanks to all for your help

Hi all - Got it fixed. Here's the deal - had to push the left button a couple of times to re-activate the modes that quit working. after doing that, all work and they also re-set OK. BTW - I have had this computer for 2 years and really love it. So for you folks who are jst installing it, hang in there, it is a great computer

i'm glad i'm not the only one it fooled :). funny how the same thing happened to both of us at about the same time, maybe a shimano conspiracy. lol
