Hello,

My bike currently has a Shimano Tiagra Front Derailler, I am being offered by my friend at a low price a Shimano Ultegra FD.

My question is, is it worth buying and replacing the Tiagra? Or dont fix something that's not broken?

What advantage will the model swap do, if any? Or the advantages negligible.

The Rear Derailler is a Shimano 105.

First question you want to ask if if that ultegra is compatible with your tiagra. If you are happy with the shifting performance on the tiagra you're literaly burning money with this upgrade.

Compatibility could be an issue if the crankset is a triple and if the cassette is a 10-speed.

To offer the best answer we really need more information. The Ultegra is lighter and more durable but could be a bad mistake if not fully compatible. The number, size, and difference in sizes of the chainrings all make a difference in FD choice, so does the chain width.

"advise" is a verb.
