I should be getting my bike in a few days, and I've been thinking.....I need a cyclometer for this thing dont I?

Right now I've found a couple:

Cateye Astrale 8
Cateye Astrale
Performance Axiom

The Astrale 8 is terrific. Make sure you get the latest model.

Even the old one is great, and for $22 bucks at Nashbar, it can't be beat.

That new cateye double wireless looks pretty slick.

Anyone have that new cateye yet? I was eyeing that one for my new bike...I don't want to run cadence cables on my new bike so I'm thinking wireless....

I have the axiom w/ cadence, and it's terrific so far. It's got avg speed comparison, odometer, trip odometer, avg speed, max speed, current speed, timer, clock, cadence. It's good.

Are there different models of Astrale 8? How can you tell them apart? Or did you just mean to recommend the Astrale 8 over the older Astrale?

Thanks!

If you don't want to mount a cadence sensor on your bike, go with the Shimano Flightdeck.

My apologies for not being clear...

The one I recommend is the Astrale 8

The older one - the Astrale, is also very good.

One day, a friend who has one and I went riding in the rain. Before long, he complained that his Astrale was going wacky - the display was jumping all over the place. The 8 didn't have any problems. This is the only negative thing I've heard about the Astrale but because of it, I suggest the 8.

Besides, the 8 looks cooler.

I have teh astrale, and it has sbeen a great performer. I have not had personally had problems with moisture, but I have heard others (on this forum) complain about it.

I routed my cables under the chainstay, then under the downtube using clear packing tape, and they are pretty hard to notice. It may help that my frame is black.

Happy riding
