I've been primarily interested in riding BMX for the last few years, but now that my friends are hinting I need to ride a more grown up bike, I'm in search of a good used road bike..I've found a Roadmaster Scorcher in 56cm, just wondering what your guys take on that frame..I've seen other sources that state it's a *** bike and won't last long....it's $50...just needs a front brake.

Anyway, I need some advice on road bikes....like can I convert the brake levers to hide the cables on ANY handlebar....and what frame size SHOULD I be getting....I'm 5'9" w/ a 32" inseam..I've looked up frame sizing and they've stated somewhere between 54cm-56cm... I was also told I could actually go maybe 57-58 MAX. Any thoughts?

Forget the Roadmaster.
56 cm is very close to what you will need.
Fit is evrything on a road bike.

Why should I forget the Roadmaster? Is it as crappy as I've read? Also does shifter location make a big difference? My old Nishiki had them on the downtube..most of the ones I can afford have them up on the stem.....which is better?

Would 58cm be too big? Found a Bianchi for $130.

Roadmaster Crappy, Had one.
Nishiki's are nice I had one.
Down tube shifters area better quality I beleive.

Bianchi's are nice. You could give it a test ride and see.
It might work for your as your first road bike.
